Walk In Translations Europe S.L., owner of www.marketing-lingo.com, was founded by Bellinda Zabcic, the managing director and owner of the company. Ms. Zabcic earned a B.A. in European Studies & Linguistics from the University of Limerick, Ireland as a mature student after over 15 years in the hospitality industry. She soon focused on language and in particular on translation, when her outstanding talent for the field became apparent. Following her graduation in 1999, she moved to Mexico and later the Dominican Republic to work initially as a language teacher and then as a translator for a renowned US based translation company with offices in Sosua, Dominican Republic.
Within just six months, Ms. Zabcic was promoted from in-house translator to team leader of the geographically removed German language team. She then initiated an in-house direct sales team to sell translations in a variety of countries by cold calling around the world.
She returned to Europe a year later and began working in a variety of roles in several translation companies in Germany and Ireland, expanding her horizon in terms of the many facets of the industry.
There had to be a better way.
By 2007, Ms. Zabcic was thoroughly disillusioned with the practices of the translation industry and sought a way to improve service for end customers. The shocking treatment of staff by big name LSPs (Language Service Providers), leading to burn-out, continuous turnover of staff, sub-standard customer service, low-quality translations, and sweatshop level payments to translators at the time simply did not agree with the ideals and standards she had set for herself. Her decision was made and Walk In Translations was born. She wanted to bring back personal, eye-level service for customers, allowing them to "walk in" to an office, just like into any other business for a personal consultation.
Five years later, Walk In Translations Europe S.L. is a well established and respected agency with a healthy base of long-term clients. The bulk of the work to date has been and continues to be in technical translations for many big name companies from around the world, with increasing numbers of customers showing interest in high quality marketing translations.
Leading the way in a new direction.
During the past year, a number of existing and new clients have begun looking for a different kind of service, going beyond the mere 1:1 translation of facts and towards a more intuitive and creative way to handle language: marketing translation.
Instead of jumping on the bandwagon and going for the cheapest options, like Google Translate, crowd sourcing, and sweatshop translations from the Far East (believe it or not: some companies even go as far as to offer a link to babelfish on their website - go ahead! Have a laugh!), more and more clients are beginning to understand that entering a new market in a foreign language will need the same kind of meticulous work as it did in the original language for the home market. Gaining a new client requires the same basic cornerstones, whatever the language: interesting, emotional content that inspires the reader to find out more, trust in the competence of the provider or manufacturer in the products and services on offer, and a feeling of appreciation as an important new partner.
Marketing Lingo is the new website for Walk In Translations Europe S.L. and will be handling the requirements for marketing translations with the help of a number of hand-picked translators for each language pair (we will initially concentrate on the languages German, English, French, and Spanish, and any combinations thereof, with additional languages on request). Our existing clients for technical translations, manuals, operating instructions, website localisation, annual reports, software localisation, will continue to receive the same excellent level of work with the added bonus of even more focus on natural language flow and readability. Our translators have a reputation for excellence, who set themselves the highest possible standards, and will only deliver the very best. Obviously, these are people at the top of their game, who won't work for minimum wages.
